Vibration Trainer or Vibration Massager?
04-Jul-2009
Having demonstrated the HyperVibe machine to thousands of people around Australia during the past 12 months, the most common questions or comments I receive are...

“What’s the difference between your machine and the other one?”

“I have seen similar machines sold much cheaper.”

“My friend bought one from TV and they don’t work.”

Today it is possible to purchase a domestic vibration machine from as little as $300, and up to $20,000 for a commercial vibration machine. I often show people this, and then ask people if they think that a machine that costs $300 is going to give them the same results as a machine that costs $20,000? The answer is no, there is a significant difference in the vibration produced by different machines, and a machine that costs just a few hundred dollars cannot possibly provide you with the same effect as a machine that costs many thousands. You are essentially comparing a vibration massage machine, with a vibration training machine.

Suppliers of vibration machines all seem to claim they work the same, so to the average consumer, how do you sift through the marketing and purchase a vibration training machine rather than just a massager?

My number one piece of advice is to try before you buy. No matter how much information you have read, how many websites you have viewed, or what your friends have told you, it is quite easy to get trapped into buying a vibration machine that just doesn’t do what they claim. With such a huge amount of machines around, it is also possible that you might try several machines, and you still haven’t tried a vibration training machine opposed to a vibration massager. So, I give clients the following tip, if you are looking to purchase a pivotal vibration machine, try the Galileo, if you are looking to purchase a vertical vibration machine, try the VibroGym. Both of these suppliers are very well established, have numerous studies published, and are both vibration training machines. My advice to those who manage to try either of these vibration machine’s, is to take note of the feeling in their muscles from using the machine, the tight burning feeling, almost like a cramp. That feeling is caused by your muscles contracting very rapidly via a phenomenon known as the stretch reflex. Not all machines can activate this reflex, and even fewer can activate it with such intensity. Make sure you remember that feeling when then going out and trying other units, if you can’t feel a similar feeling, then chances are you are looking at a vibration massage machine, not a vibration trainer. Ignore the claims made by the supplier, ignore what you heard on the TV, and ignore what your friends have said. Using a machine that does not give you that intense muscle activation, will not give you a workout. If you are armed with the knowledge that comes through trying a vibration training machine, your chances of being duped by an unscrupulous supplier will be minimised.
